Restaurant critic and food writer
Juror
Larissa Dubecki is a writer and restaurant critic who began as a news reporter at The Age in 2000 before realizing life would be cheaper and more rewarding if she were paid to eat in restaurants. From 2009 to 2014, she was the Good Food Guide’s chief critic. In 2010, she made the Le Cordon Bleu World Food Media Awards world’s top food critic shortlist; and her section of The Age, Epicure, won the award for world’s best food and wine section in a newspaper.
Larissa has appeared several times as a guest judge on MasterChef Australia and was a permanent judge on Iron Chef Australia. Now a freelance critic and writer, she has published work in Gourmet Traveller, Time Out, Guardian Australia and The Age. Her first book, Prick With a Fork (Allen and Unwin 2015), is a comedic memoir about her decade as the world’s worst waitress in various insalubrious Melbourne restaurants.
